Aftercare
Avoid exfoliating or irritating products (retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, scrubs, or brushes) for 2–3 days prior to treatment to limit potential irritation.
Contact your Studio to cancel or delay your appointment if you have an active cold sore, sunburn, irritation, rashes, or open lesions.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure or tanning before your appointment.
Arrive with clean skin when possible, but a thorough cleanse will always be performed prior to treatment.
Inform your provider if you:
· Have excessively oily skin or active acne breakouts
· Are currently using or have used Accutane/isotretinoin within the past year
· Are on medications that affect skin healing or cause increased hair growth
· Have sensitive skin, Rosacea, or a known skin condition
Dermaplaning pairs well with hydrating facials and skincare treatments.
Your skin will be cleansed and prepped to ensure it is completely clean and dry.
A sterile, medical-grade blade is used to gently glide across the surface of the skin to remove dead skin cells and Vellus hair (peach fuzz).
You may feel a light brushing sensation.
The treatment typically takes 10–30 minutes, depending on whether it’s performed alone or combined with another service.
Your provider will complete your dermaplaning treatment with soothing, hydrating products and broad-spectrum SPF. If combining treatments on the same day, your provider will continue with additional treatment, e.g., a Chemical Peel, Facial Treatment, after the dermaplaning is complete.
Mild sensitivity following dermaplaning is expected due to enhanced product absorption.
Many clients schedule dermaplaning before events for smoother makeup application.
Your skin will be freshly exfoliated and highly receptive to skincare. Following proper aftercare will help maintain results and prevent irritation.
Do:
· Use gentle, hydrating skincare for the next few days.
· Apply broad-spectrum SPF daily and avoid direct sun exposure.
· Keep skin well moisturized.
· Follow any personalized product recommendations from your provider.
Avoid for 3–7 days (or until skin feels normal):
· Retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, or other active/exfoliating products
· Manual exfoliation (scrubs, brushes, cleansing devices)
· Prolonged heat (hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms)
· Prolonged sun exposure or tanning
Normal Reactions:
· Mild redness
· Slight sensitivity
· Temporary dryness
These typically resolve within 24–48 hours.
If you experience prolonged irritation, unusual discomfort, or signs of infection, please contact your studio.
